Priti Kahar, hails
from Baroda, Gujarat, India and has completed her Bachelors (2003) and Masters
(2005) in Sculpture from The Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda.
Priti works with
different mediums exploring different techniques, mainly which do not fall in
the conventional methods of working. She usually combine two or three mediums
such as wood and metal, wood and fiber, metal and stone, paper collage on wood
or fiber etc., which can be seen in her recent works. Her highly relief
sculptures and collage works are quite fascinating form of her expression.
In her works on the
site, high quality eco-solvent prints are used, which are processed using heat
on fiberglass objects and wood. Also in her work, display texts which comprises
of commonly used confusing words play a key role in her expressions. She uses
words as a running text, which creates a texture covering the paintings.
Rubberstamps have been used as a tool to create text as a surface in her
painting. Tea wash, charcoal, acrylic, water color and ink on paper and
canvases are used to create from a large body of her works.
